This regulated qualification is for learners that wish to demonstrate their knowledge in the Installation and Maintenance of Air Source Heat Pumps Systems (Non-refrigerant Circuits). This qualification could be used by operatives or individuals looking to join the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).
Who is it suitable for?
This level 3 course is intended for practicing heating installers who want to expand their skills and knowledge around Installation and Maintenance of Air Source Heat Pump Systems and continue their professional development.
You must hold either:
N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence.
or
N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Heating and Ventilating (Domestic Installation) or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence.
or
N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Heating and Ventilating (Industrial and Commercial Installation) or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence.
or
N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Oil-Fired Technical Services or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence.
or
N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Gas Installation and Maintenance or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence.
You must also hold a valid certification in the following:
- Water Regulations/Water Byelaws (WRAS or equivalent)
- Energy Efficiency for Domestic Heating - commonly referred to as a Part L qualification
What the course covers?
This three-day course covers the course material, training, assessment and certification. This course is designed to enable you to specify, survey, design and install heat pump systems into domestic or small domestic premises. The course will cover the following modules:
A background into the market
The regulation and guidance to heat pumps
The principles of the operation of air source heat pumps
Explanation of the types of heat pumps
Aligning with the appropriate heating systems
Ascertaining the correct requirements for pre-installation
The correct materials and materials for installation
Installing, setting up and commissioning the heat pump
Servicing heat pumps and fault finding
Exams and Assessments
The course fee includes the examination entrance fee and handouts.
There is an online and practical assessment.
Hands on training for success
All our course trainers have decades of teaching experience and both courses are assessed by a range of methods including online multiple-choice exams and practical assessments.
You’ll learn from a range of training methods in our computer-equipped classroom. All courses include the relevant hand-outs to support your learning. Also you will have the opportunity to work on a fully functional heat pump rig and also live equipment.
